my fingers hurt. yeah? well now your back's gonna hurt, cuz you just pulled landscaping duty.

isn't this just the cutest, sweetest little sailboat purse? NO. this purse is a nautical nightmare. this is one of two i am making for a customer. i'll post the process after everything is done (she also wants a couple of headbands), but the best advice i can give to anyone right now about making a purse like this is that thick fabric and round handles do not work easily together! round bamboo handles, i have discovered, have to be attached at the edges (or corners) of your bag. i was trying to make a half-moon shape purse for my customer but the bag shape she chose came from a woven-wicker type purse, where the grass or whatever was woven and wrapped around the handle, these have to be sewn into the fabric, and it just doesn't work unless you attach it at the corners. if someone else has found a way to do that feel FREE to correct me!! i tried a lot of stuff. and since the fabric is so thick there isn't a lot of room with the handles in there to use my sewing machine, so hand-stitching is the maneuver of choice for this project, unfortunately. sewing by hand isn't my forte, that's for sure. anyway, i wanted to get this up b/c i hate the idea of someone else spending 6 hours trying to figure out how to attach round handles to the middle of a purse lol. hope it's helpful to someone!
